10 Uses for Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint oil has dozens upon dozens of uses. There are so many uses in fact that any essential oil enthusiast will want to have a bottle on hand. Take a look below at 10 uses for peppermint oil that you can try. You will find that peppermint oil can be quite beneficial to use daily, so here is how you can get started.  My all time favorite way to use peppermint essential oil is to help block a headache before it becomes severe.

 

10 Uses for Peppermint Essential Oil

1. Soothe an upset stomach.

Add a drop or two of peppermint oil to a glass of warm water and drink. It will help soothe upset stomach, cramping, and other minor tummy issues.

2. Freshen up your breath.

Mix a few drops of peppermint oil with a tablespoon of water and swish around in your mouth. Do not swallow the mixture, but instead swish and spit.

3. Say goodbye to drowsiness.

Inhaling some peppermint oil can help perk you up and banish drowsiness. Keep a little peppermint oil in your desk at work to help you with a quick pick me up.  Or add it to your desktop USB diffuser.

4. Soothe bug bites.

Apply a drop of peppermint oil to bug bites to help dry them out and lessen the sting, itch, and burn.

5. Get rid of mice.

Dab a cotton ball with peppermint oil and place the cotton ball near openings where mice are coming in. They will be deterred by the scent and not return.

6. Repeal spiders.

The same technique can be used when repelling spiders. You can also rub peppermint oil along windows and doors where spiders seem to be an issue.

7. Massage away aches.

Mix a few drops of peppermint oil with 3 tablespoons of coconut oil. Massage into the skin to help soothe aching muscles.

8. Relax your feet.

Add a few drops of peppermint oil to a foot bath of warm water. Let your feet soak. They will feel energized and refreshed in just minutes.

9. Refresh the air.

You can add some peppermint oil to a diffuser to clean the air, or apply some to cotton balls and set the cotton balls near a vent. This will help send the oil vapors into the air to refresh and purify it.

10. Enrich flavor.

Add just one or two drops to your baking to give that recipe a peppermint twist. This is especially delicious in brownies.
