Hyatt Regency San Antonio – On The Riverwalk
In August my family were guests of the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio on the Riverwalk. We visit San Antonio multiple times a year since we are big fans of Sea World and staying on the Riverwalk makes our stay twice as enjoyable. The Hyatt Regency is not only right on the Riverwalk but it actually is the only hotel that still has some of the Riverwalk running through it.
As soon as we entered the lobby Noah saw the Riverwalk and assumed it was the pool. He wanted to go swimming right away. Unfortunately we weren’t able to go swimming even in the pool during our trip because Gabby wasn’t able to swim per doctor’s orders at that time.
When we arrived it was late at night so I didn’t expect there to be many staff members around to assist us. I was wrong. Someone greeted us when we pulled up and gave us the option of valet parking or using the garage, which they showed us how to get across the street to the garage after helping us unload our luggage from the car.
The atmosphere of the hotel was very welcoming. The decor was very open and modern which I love and the environment was relaxing. They had a newly opened 24 hour bagel shop right indoors which was nice, especially for night-owls like ourselves.
All the staff members were extremely friendly and willing to help in any way possible. We were beyond pleased with the room. It was gorgeous and spacious. There was plenty of closet room for all of our clothes and draw space which was nice. The beds were comfortable and so were the pillows which was a nice treat because I’m picky. T and I both suffer from migraines and sleeping comfort is important to prevent them.
Right away the kids wanted to pop popcorn so we had to call housekeeping and request a microwave be brought to the room. I was a little surprised it didn’t have one already in it but they were able to deliver it quickly with no problems.
The next morning while the rest of the family was getting ready I went down and took a tour of the Hyatt Regency. Since I travel a lot it was nice to see the full facility and what all they had to offer their guests. I loved the view from the pool. The pool is located outside on the top deck overlooking the Alamo. Pretty cool, right? Their workout center had all new equipment and was nicely remodeled.
Since I attend multiple conferences a year I thought it was important to view the meeting rooms and facilities. I would highly recommend using the Hyatt Regency for conferences. The location is excellent, the staff is personable and helpful and their rooms are spacious and laid out great with convenience to restaurants within walking distance.
Our second night we were exhausted from a long day at Sea World and wanted to dine in. Instead of going down to the restaurant we ordered food to bring up to the room. The Hyatt Regency has a top notch restaurant located inside it called the Q. The food was delicious. I ordered Brisket Tacos that I’ve never had taste so good. T had shrimp and was just as impressed. They are famous for their world bar-b-que and I can see why. The restaurant itself is very nice inside and would make a perfect place for a dinner date or a family outing.
In the center of the restaurant you can watch them cooking on the fire wall. The savory smells drift outside of the restaurant so if you are hungry it’ll pull you right in. The meat was truly cooked to perfection.
Our stay was fabulous and the kids loved riding in the glass elevators, watching as we went up and down. Taking a stroll out to the Riverwalk was so simple and being so close to all the attractions such as the Alamo, Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Wax Museum was great. We never had to take the car except to drive to Sea World. The walking distance was so close that even Gabby was comfortable getting out and about.
Full Disclosure: Our stay was complimentary thanks to the Hyatt Regency for hosting us. We had a fabulous time and do look forward to going back again soon. All opinions are 100% mine.
These pictures are amazing, can I go now?!?!? Wow, I’m impressed.
I would love to enjoy bagels late at night! It looks like a beautiful place!
What a beautiful hotel!!
That’s a super hotel. Have used it more than once for conferences. It’d be great to go there sometime when I’m not working. My wife would LOVE it.
Great pictures- that is so neat that the Riverwalk is connected to the hotel- I’ve heard the Riverwalk is a really beautiful location!
I just read your review of SeaWorlds awesome Halloween bash! Sounds really kid friendly and festive!
Beautiful hotel! I love the little tidbit that it is the only hotel with a bit of the river still running through it!
I’ve had the pleasure of walking through this hotel but not the pleasure of staying here. From what I saw it was VERY beautiful.
I guess I’m a kid at heart too because I LOVE glass elevators! Thanks for the review – I can’t wait to go see it one day!

Gorgeous, and your room service tacos sound awesome!
Nice hotel! Would love to stay there with my family for 2 days!!
Love the fact that the rooms are spacious and that they have lots of closets! Doesn’t seem like a big deal, but hotel rooms can get so crowded when you have four people trying to stay in one room and suitcases all over the place because you are living out of it. Beautiful hotel!
Thanks so much for the review of this hotel! I love San Antonio! It’s such a beautiful place and I would definitely welcome the chance to stay at this hotel!
We usually get to go every year and this is the only hotel that we ever stay at. Not only is it beautiful but we have always find it to be the cheapest with the best location. You almost end up in front of the Alamo.
I live in downtown San Antonio and the Hyatt Regency is one of my favorite hotels. It has the BEST location… close to everything that people want to see in downtown… great job on the review! One other thing, the Hyatt Regency is very involved in helping non profits in the city of San Antonio. That means alot to me. I think they even still have a program where the left over shampoos and lotions, etc are donated to our homeless.
What a lovely hotel! Hoping to visit it soon.
Thank you for the review,
Teresa
In July my grandaughter & I attended a family reunion in SanAntonio,TX. We stayed at the Hyatt riverwalk for 4 days .It was like haven. Room service was excellent and the staff was supperior. I would lke to take my husband there & celebrate our 40thwedding anniversary so he too can experience the joy, excitement, the beautiful hotel and and everything it offers.
Like said, we have bought our flights to Texas in December, but don’t have a hotel in San Antonio booked yet. This looks like a perfect place to go, I love Riverwalk and have stayed at other Hyatt’s before, so I know they always have great service.
The hotel is fabulous! We stayed there a few years ago with the grandkids! Great location for seeing Sea Worldl, the river walk, and all the great sites! The Hyatt makes our visit, complete!
Makes we want to stay here even more! How awesome to be in the middle of everything!
I’ve had friends stay @ this hotel, & have ALWAYS wanted to go – what a gorgeous place, looks FABulous!!! (Keeping my fingers crossed, we’d LOVE to go between Christmas & New Years 2011!!!)
The lobby looks amazing!
These photos are gorgeous. Do you know if they have refrigerators in the rooms or if you can get a room with a refrigerator? You know us families with kids and babies. Another question, do they have handicapped rooms? Thanks!
This is a great hotel in the perfect location for family fun.
