Gabby Started 4th Grade

Gabby was finally given the clear by her doctors to return to school. Although she started back last week she hasn’t quite made it a full week yet. Gotta love all the various doctor appointments with multiple specialists!

She is so happy to be back in school. One plus side of being in a small class is she has the same teachers each year. This is her fourth year with them. Some of her classmates changed which she was a little sad about but overall she is thrilled to be back. She also missed her class therapy dog!

Everyday she comes home smiling and happy. This week she had to study for a spelling test and I was excited to see she knew all the words. I remember the day I was nervous she wasn’t going to be able to learn as well as she used to and now seeing she is developing those language skills again makes me proud. When I went to quiz her she gave me a look like ‘yeah duh mom I know those words’. It came so easy I didn’t even make her write them last night.

Her surgery wound has healed nicely. She is still taking antibiotics and will for at least three full months since the infection was so severe. However we are both just happy to be finished with the bandages.

I wish I could say we are going to get a break from doctor offices and procedures but unfortunately we already have two more specialists we are seeing in October. One is for the precocious puberty we are trying to get under control and the other is seeing her Orthopedic Surgeon for her leg and foot again. I’ve put both appointments off as long as I could to get us past this stage and now it can’t wait any longer.

Just hoping for as much normalcy in our lives as possible.
