Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders RC Review

This past week the kids and I have been playing with a Hot Wheels RC Nitro Speeders Ford Mustang GT.  First I must say, I was shocked at how tiny this remote control car is.  The size wasn’t the only thing impressive, the speed of this little toy remote control car was amazing.  The car was across the room in one blink.

  • Portable size – the tiny car fits inside the charger.  The box closes shut completely and is small enough to carry in one hand.  This makes it the perfect toy to take along to the park or to a friend’s house to play.  Convenient.
  • Charges fast – the Nitro Speeder is fully charged in 25 minutes.  The charger takes AA batteries, not included and you must have a tiny eye-glass size screwdriver to get battery cover off.
  • Speed – what little boy doesn’t love a fast remote control car?  …or grown man?
  • Durable – we crashed this little car multiple times.  Sometimes on accident and sometimes for fun.  We had fun knocking over the trees from the train playset we own.
  • Great for racing – with the speed and size, this little car is best to just play around racing on open floor
  • Works on Hot Wheels track – the car is fast enough to make the loops on the Hot Wheels tracks.
  • Easy push buttons – the two controls are easy to push, no steering wheel to manage.  Just a simple slide of the finger.

Cons:

  • Speed – how can speed be both a pro and con? This little car packs so much speed when you slightly slide the accelerator it takes off, making it difficult to control.  Just like with a real race car, sometimes the car has more power than it can handle and if you floor it the back-end will fish tail and spin out.  Usually with a real car the driver can get control and the tires gain traction.  On the Nitro Speeders that’s not always the case, usually the little car spins in a circle and then takes off in another direction.
  • Steering – again, same problem with speed. It goes so fast it’s difficult to steer in the direction you want to drive.  It’s like driving so fast you miss your turn.

We all enjoyed playing with the Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders.  We learned what the remote control Ford Mustang could and could not do.  It was interesting testing it to the limits.  We drove the car around inside the kitchen and outside on our back patio.  The patio did scuff up the tires some.  I can’t say we would stop playing with it outdoors because we have more room there, but just be aware if you use your vehicle outside the ground may be rough on it.  Also always sweep the area you plan to drive the car in.  Keep in mind it’s very tiny and therefore a piece of gravel or even some crumbs on the floor can get in the way.

The most fun we had with the Hot Wheels car was seeing who would drive it the fastest across the floor and knocking over the village we setup.  We took turns seeing who could knock over the most trees in a certain amount of time.  It was extremely fun to take part in.  We created several video short clips and put them together as a review.  You can see our Hot Wheels Nitro Speeders Ford Mustang in action.
