Female Empowerment – Rizzoli & Isles

Last week I discussed how Rizzoli and Isles are best friends yet in many ways complete opposites…  They are both truly unique individuals although, they both have very strong and independent personalities.  Watching them at work in powerful careers and showing their personal lives wrapped up in the mix is what provides the show with a plot that keeps you coming back for me.  It’s inspiring seeing such female empowerment play out on television.

Rizzoli and Isles not only go after what they believe in and want out of life but they don’t give up until they succeed.  Usually this is shown by them working on a case.  There are times when they conflict over evidence or understanding in a case since they play two completely different roles.  They have been known to agree to disagree and trust one another to do their best at their individual jobs.  Their display of balancing personal independence while allowing themselves to be dependent on one another in their careers is what influences those around them.  It proves their egos do not get in the way of their jobs.

Rizzoli and Isles play positive role models for women.  A nice reminder to stay true to yourself, work hard at what you’re passionate about and know when to rely on another to be the best they can be.  As a testament to this, Rizzoli & Isles won Best Drama at the ‘Women’s Image Network Awards’ in 2010.
