Getting to Know Your Date Through Emails

 

I remember my first love letter email. Being a single mom I’ve had my fair share of online dating. I even remember the very first dating site I ever joined, Yahoo! Personals. It was in 2004 and I ventured into creating an online dating profile. I remember it well because my friend wanted me to browse the site for some specific reason and I couldn’t do it without a full profile. After creating it of course I was intrigued. Good looking men are distracting, aren’t they?

I remember the first person I met on Yahoo! Personals and spent more time than I’d like to admit emailing back and forth and chatting online through Yahoo! Instant Messenger.  When taking part in online dating you really can get to know someone fairly well by having conversations through email.  Before exchanging phone numbers email was the easiest and safest way to ask all those personal questions and try to determine if we were compatible.  To the best we could tell online of course.  I remember those ‘I can’t wait to meet you’,  ‘I miss you’, and of course the ‘I love you’ emails.  Yahoo! Mail will always play a special part in my memories of love email.
