Three Seasons of Sea World

The kids and I took quite a few trips to Sea World in San Antonio during 2010.  It has become a family tradition to take a road-trip down to San Antonio at least once or twice a year.  All three of my kids love Sea World, especially Noah – it’s his favorite place.  He loves all sea life and the shows entertain the whole family.  To go along with my Family Travel Tips for Sea World I thought I’d share a look back into all three seasons we have visited Sea World.

SpringEntering Sea World

What I love most about Spring is the weather.  It’s not too cold yet not too hot.  We were comfortable walking around all day with long sleeves and some days in Spring it’s even warmer.

Tapanga feeding the dolphinsDuring the Spring season at Sea World in San Antonio you are able to do just about everything besides the Lost Lagoon Waterpark.  We usually feed the dolphins, watch all our favorite shows and of course visit the shark and stingray tank.

If crowds aren’t really your thing then I recommend checking to see which week is the common Spring Break for public schools around the area and if at all possible go the next week after most of the vacationers have gone home.  Of course if you are like us and you must travel to visit Sea World and therefore Spring Break is the only option then I recommend going on a week day.  We’ve had great luck with the crowds and always plan to spend the full day at the theme park taking our time to see everything.

Summer

During the Summer there is more to do while at Sea World.  The Lost Lagoon Waterpark is open and the little kids have a great time playing in Shamu’s Happy Habor.  Of course during the summer months in San Antonio, Texas it can get very hot.  Sea World has done a great job of making sure there are plenty of indoor restaurants and cooling stations.  If you plan to visit the waterpark then I recommend purchasing the two-day pass so you don’t feel rushed.  We really enjoy spending ample amount of time in both areas.

WinterSea World Christmas Tree

December 2010 was the first time I had taken the kids to Sea World during the Winter.  We always talked about visiting during the Holiday season to see all the Christmas lights so this past year we planned a quick road-trip getaway to San Antonio.  Unfortunately the weather during our visit wasn’t that great.  It rained on us off and on plus was cold.  However, we loved it.  Gabby ran around splashing in puddles and by the evening and we all joked about who was more soaked.  There wasn’t much of a crowd since it was only two days after Christmas which worked out perfectly.  The lights were gorgeous and the kids loved the Christmas tree.

Sesame Street Show at Sea World Sea World gave their shows a nice Christmas touch which impressed me.  Since we had just visited during the summer and had seen all the shows it was great to have new entertainment that was filled with the spirit of the season.

Sesame Street is one of my kids’ favorite shows.  They love all the characters and know them by name.  Seeing them up close and personal, singing and dancing made their eyes light up.  The show even had fake snow drop from the ceiling which really excited the whole crowd.  All the little kids ran towards the stage trying to catch the snow.  Priceless.

There were a few other Holiday season exhibits such as the Candy Cane Forest and Snowman Village.  It was all beyond beautiful to see and I do hope to visit again over the Holidays.

Full Disclosure: I have attended blogger events at Sea World where admission was included, however I also take my family at my own expense.  Photos shown in this post are from both.  We love Sea World and all opinions in this post are 100% mine.

Have you been to Sea World?  If so which location did you visit and what is your favorite season or time of year to go?

  1. We’ve been twice in Orlando and once in San Antonio, and we have done Winter, Fall, and Summer! I think Fall was my favorite just because the weather was perfect and we went BEFORE Fall Break so we weren’t as crowded.

    Love the pictures!

  2. Oh my gosh I love the pics! Never been to Sea World .. EVER hope to soon with the munchkins. Would be a great idea for us to meet up as a vacation so our kids can meet! 🙂
