Sprinkles Cupcake & SpongeBob Legos, What more could a girl want?
I haven’t shared an update on Gab in a while and after our amazing weekend I thought I would share how things were going. Yesterday, Sunday, we had a great day. She has been doing much better lately, of course we still have our down days but for the past few weeks it’s been pretty positive. We went running errands and shopping at the North Park Mall in Dallas. I wanted to take the girls to eat a cupcake at Sprinkles and the only one around is in Dallas. I have purchased Sprinkles before and brought them home but it was their first visit to the actual store.
While we were shopping at North Park Mall we noticed a Lego store. I must admit we had a lot of fun shopping in this store. It reminded us of the time we went to Disney World and visited the very large Lego store.
T filled a large cup full of various Legos for $14.99 and this Momma can pack them in tight, let me tell ya! I was able to get in quite a bit more than what she believed was full. Although Noah wasn’t with us we did manage to get him some cool wheels and pieces to make a fun Lego car. Gab picked out a whole SpongeBob SquarePants set called the Krusty Krab Adventures. I enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table with them last night putting it all together. We had so much fun and the set was pretty cool, I must say. Her favorite part was the Patty Wagon. Isn’t it cool how it truly looks like a hamburger? Oops, I mean Krabby Patty? It has the lettuce, mustard, ketchup, meat and bun. The set also came with Spongebob, Patrick and Mr. Krabs figures. We spent a minimum of an hour playing last night at the table before I even realized the time. By this time Noah had joined us and was enjoying every minute of it.
At Sprinkles Gab ordered the double chocolate cupcake. She doesn’t take after Mom in that area, I don’t even like chocolate. I had Red Velvet which was so yummy. Of course the Sprinkles cupcakes are so rich in flavor and extra sweet that neither of us could finish a whole one. I’m more of a cake person which Gab, as you can see, is more of an icing person. I thought it was hilarious that she literally licked the icing right off the top. It made me shiver just thinking about all that sugar. However it was a nice treat on a rare occasion. We enjoyed our time together and she had a great day!
Over the past week Gabby has literally asked me to cuddle with her, given me a kiss and even showed special interest in me watching a movie in the same room. For Gabby to initiate those kinds of affection is HUGE for her. I could probably count on a single hand how many full pucker kisses Gab has given me since her brain surgery. Although she has slept in my bed on several nights, she doesn’t usually cuddle anymore and never sits in my lap during movie time. We go out to the movies together and even watch movies as a family at home but she actually went out of her way to come and ask me to join her without prompting. Over the past couple of years Gab has done stuff with us as a family as more of a ‘go with the flow‘ rather than showing true interest. I know this is all due to her lack of social skills since surgery but for these things to slowly show change is amazing to me. Not sure if it’ll happen again or how often or when… but it happened and I’m excited. That’s all that matters.
Great week and I’m cherishing it!
My kids love legos. We have all different sizes but we have never been to an actual lego store. That double chocolate cupcake looks so good!
I am so very happy for you; those little moments must warm your heart so much. Glad you had fun, and the cupcake store–Sounds like heaven! 🙂
Saw you around somewhere (sorry, can’t remember where) and thought I’d stop by and say hi 🙂
