T’s 13th Birthday Jewelry from Novica

When shopping for T’s 13th birthday I knew I wanted to get her something special.  I thought the 13th birthday was the perfect time to buy her a nice piece of jewelry.  T isn’t girlie at all, matter of fact she is a little tom-boyish. On any given day the most jewelry you would find her wearing were those rubber bracelets that she has collected at every 5K event we have ever taken part in.  Which being a proud momma that I am of her giving nature to participate in non-profit organization events, I thought it was time for a step up to some sterling silver jewelry.

I was recently introduced to Novica which is a website in association with the National Geographic.  I instantly fell in love with this website.  I have literally spent countless number of hours going through every piece of jewelry and most home decor items they have.  You don’t even want to see my personal wish list from the website.

T collects elephants so during my search I fell in love with two pieces that I couldn’t pass up.  The first one was the ‘Pearl Filigree Necklace – Mighty Elephant‘.  The necklace is sterling silver with an elephant pendant and a fresh water pearl.  Taken from the website: Noble in its countenance, an elephant symbolizes strength, sagacity and wisdom. Giuliana Valz-Gen designs this luminous argent pendant featuring silver filigree artistry. An iridescent pearl pendant completes this design.  To me that sounded perfect and it was beautiful.  The pearl symbolizes purity and the elephant stands for strength and wisdom making the perfect combination to wear her first years of being a teenager.

The second piece of jewelry I ordered for her was the ‘Onyx Link Bracelet – Elephant Safari‘.  T had recently started showing an interest in Onyx and Moonstone.  I assume because neither are too girlie and yet both are very nice in jewelry.  When I saw this bracelet I knew it was perfect for her.  Of course, she loved both pieces!  She was very excited to receive her new jewelry and wears it regularly now.

I was very impressed with the gift wrapping of the items.  They came in the mail nicely packaged and ready for giving.  Both items came with a special artisan story card that told about the jeweler and the piece of jewelry.  Each piece came from a different country and one even came with a hand-written postcard from the artisan.  It was very thoughtful and those cards were an added bonus that T can keep forever which made the jewelry even more special.  Knowing both pieces of jewelry have a true story behind them means more to her than me going out to the mall to shop.
