Is your garden ready for your summer guests?
Summer is quite possibly my favorite time of year, it’s a time to spend time with family and friends, make wonderful memories together, enjoy the long days of warm sunshine, enjoy the beach, the lake and even jet off somewhere exotic for a couple of weeks. My favorite wardrobe pieces come to the forefront of my weekly outfits, maxi dresses, beautiful accessories, and stunning sandals and footwear.
It’s also important to remember that although sunglasses are a great accessory, they should also be protecting your eyes from the sun’s UV rays. Sunglasses like these cat eyeglasses from Eye Buy Direct are perfect in preserving your vision and keeping you stylish yet safe in the sun.
It’s also the best time of year for family and friend get-togethers! I love throwing open the patio doors, and letting my guests enjoy my outdoor space while they chat, catch up and spend some quality time together.
Check out my tips for getting your garden ready for summer guests.
Tidy your outdoor space
Every garden gets a little messy from time to time, whether that’s overgrown plants and bushes, old garden toys, spoilt flowerbeds, and general garden debris. So, take an afternoon and dedicate it to clearing away all the mess and debris from your outdoor space. If you have a power washer then clean your garden patio – you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.
Create areas of comfort
Your guests won’t like having to stand for the entire duration of your get together, so make it easier for them to relax and create some areas of comfort. Large cushions, rugs even bean bags, creating areas of comfort means that they’ll stay longer and enjoy your company more. Don’t forget to add a few throws and blankets for when the temperature drops a little.
Lighting is everything
It’s true that the summer nights are longer and lighter, but there’s something super magical about a garden lit up during a summers evening. You won’t need stark, bright lights here. Just some simple, twinkling fairy lights around your tables, or along the garden wall. Place solar-powered stakes in and around your shrubs and flower beds for an elegant touch. And, tealights placed in some decorated mason jars will look simply stunning in the evening.
Focus on shade
We all know how harmful the sun’s rays can be and your guests will certainly appreciate a little shade to break up the day. Look for areas of shade in your outdoor space such as trees, bushes, and shrubs or even the shadows cast by your property and make sure there are seats for them there to relax in.
Don’t be afraid to upcycle
Garden furniture puts up with a lot. So, it’s understandable that it can look tired from one season to the next. If yours is looking a little worse for wear then don’t worry. Give it a good clean and consider painting it a new color. It’s a fun way to inject a bit of your own personality into your outdoor space and it’s certainly budget-friendly too.
