5 At-Home Date Night Ideas
Thank you Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups for sponsoring this post. Treat your SOUP-er significant other to a delicious meal!
Having a large blended family limits the amount of time my husband and I have to go out for a date night. Not to mention having several children, we also have three dogs that love our attention probably more than the kids do. So we put together this list of date night ideas that you can enjoy in your own home.
What is in your At-Home Date Night Toolkit?
We catch ourselves in the habit of spending more time at home than going out. Plus, when we do get out of the house it is usually to do fun family activities. After a long day of working, then having dinner with the family, we are tired. Instead of ignoring our marriage, we want to make sure we get quality time together, even if we do it at home.
5 At-Home Date Night Ideas
Host an Art Night
I love to get creative. You do not have to be an artist to have fun with paint. On Valentine’s Day a couple of years ago, my husband booked us one of those painting classes where the instructor walks you through steps to paint a canvas to take home. It turned out awesome and is hanging in our bedroom. However, you do not need an instructor to have fun painting. If you truly want a tutorial there are a ton online or on YouTube, but feel free to just have fun!
My husband painted this small canvas for me and I think it turned out great. It fits perfectly on a shelf in my office. Have you heard of the rock painting craze? It is extremely popular right now and there are even adult Facebook groups for it. Grab a canvas or some rocks and get busy! Paint something together or make each other something special.
Cook Dinner Together
On any given night we are rushing to get dinner on the table for the family. To have a nice relaxing date night, enjoy cooking a meal together. Do not feel guilty letting the kids eat leftovers from the night before and let them go play a game or watch a movie with their siblings while you have date night alone. Or send them to grandma’s house for some peace and quiet.
Keep dinner simple by making Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups and pair with homemade garlic knots or a fresh salad. Idahoan Steakhouse Soups are rich in flavor and taste amazing. Your spouse will feel spoiled and all you have to do is add water!
Idahoan Steakhouse Soups give you the flavorful, slow-cooked taste of restaurant-quality soup at home, in just five minutes.

Dancing
Put the kids to bed and turn on some music. Whether you want to practice your slow dancing skills or watch a ballroom dance lesson online while perfecting the steps, grab your partner and make it a night to remember. Can’t dance? Who cares! No one is watching and it’s fun to turn your living room into a dance floor.
Game Night
There are numerous two-player games that are fun to play. We love hosting game nights with our family and friends but it can be nice to just sit down the two of us for some game time. Our go-to game to play on date night is a card game.
I found this inexpensive tabletop tennis game that works on our dining room table.
Movie Night
Our all-time favorite at-home date night is to watch a movie. The best movie night is when we can watch anything we want without the worry if it is kid-appropriate. We will watch a comedy on TV or rent a movie and cuddle on the couch. We love spending quality time catching up on our shows and discussing the plot twists.
Break the rules by skipping the dining room and have dinner from your comfy couch.
