Seasonal Steps: How to Walk More

This post was sponsored by Reebok as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Fall is my favorite season. I love the cooler weather, wearing boots, and roasting marshmallows. The one thing that happens often as the weather starts to turn cold is less outdoor activities. Below I share how to walk more this season with five ways to encourage yourself.

5 Ways to Encourage More Walking This Season

See Neighborhood Christmas Lights

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all the beautiful decorations. Each year we pour ourselves some hot cocoa and drive around looking at all the outdoor Christmas lights. Instead of sitting in the car driving around this year, we are making it a mission to wrap on our scarves, bundle up, carry our hot cocoa and go for a walk around a few blocks to see the lights.

Geocache or Pokemon Go

Our family loves to geocache. We have also dabbled a little in Pokemon Go. Instead of letting these activities die off after our summer vacation ended, I am encouraging our family to make it a year-round activity. Bank some steps this weekend by going on a scavenger hunt to find a geocache.

Walk Your Dog

As the weather starts to cool, the dogs do not want to spend much time running around the backyard. To encourage yourself to get your daily steps in, take your dog for a walk. All we have to do is pick up Cooper’s leash and he goes crazy. He doesn’t care if we are taking him to the vet, he just wants to go!

By reminding myself that the dogs need the exercise, I have a great excuse to get my steps in. Plus, walking the dogs is a perfect bonding activity. Cooper and Nicki both love it and they stay right by my side.

Visit a Christmas Tree Farm

Get into the Christmas spirit by visiting your local Christmas Tree Farm. My allergies prevent me from having a live tree in the house 24/7, but that does not stop me from enjoying the beauty and smell of the live trees at a farm. There are many places that locals can visit that include more than just buying a tree. You can take family photos, eat candy canes, see Christmas lights and much more. Before you know it, you’ll spend a couple of hours walking around enjoying the family day.

Local Trails

As the seasons change, the leaves go through their stages of colorful beauty. If you are not motivated to walk around your street each day, check your local state park or city walking trails. Marking your calendar to spend a couple of hours at a local trail will encourage you to get out and take a brisk walk to enjoy the season.

With the unique, patented, moving air technology that has been popular in other Reebok DMX products in the past, these Reebok CloudRide DMX shoes have become my favorite walking shoes. It feels like I am walking on clouds with the built in air cushions.

The lightweight, flexible sole of encapsulated air that provides long-lasting comfort so I enjoy walking for miles. Whether I’m walking the dogs around the neighborhood or going for a walk on the four-mile trails at our state park, my feet never get sore. My previous walking shoes had foam in the sole, so it is interesting to have a unique twist with air instead.

Available at FamousFootwear.com and in select stores, the Reebok CloudRide DMX come in black and white. I selected the white and love them. The bright white with a hint of gray is so sleek looking. They also run true to size. I order a size 6 and they fit perfectly.

Enjoy fall and winter this year by getting outside and staying active!
