How to Host a Pie Tasting

Mr Kipling pies are the perfect size for sampling.  The mini pies come in four flavors: Mississippi Mud, Apple, Cherry and Fruit. Between these four flavors, you are sure to find a favorite but the fun lies in the tasting of each.

With the holidays around the corner, you may be looking for new ways to entertain your guests at family gatherings.  Instead of baking numerous large desserts, offer Mr Kipling pies at a tasting party.  Family and friends will have such a good time debating which pie they love more.

My husband’s favorite is the apple pie.  He sneaks one before dinner some evenings.

My son loves the Mississippi Mud, so much he is still talking about it several days after eating.

My teen and her boyfriend really enjoyed tasting the fruit pie and the pie with cherry filling.  My daughter has always had a soft spot for berries.

Although the pies can be served at room temperature, the taste is cranked up when you toss them in the oven for a few minutes.  Nothing beats a nice warm pie after dinner, especially in the fall when the weather is cooler.

When we displayed our pie spread I created small table tent cards to label the pies.  This way everyone could grab the individual serving size pie in the flavor of their choice.  Since the pies are small, there is no need to feel guilty about tasting more than one. Plus, with the mini pies you do not need to cut slices to serve, which makes hosting a pie tasting even easier.

• Cardstock or Labels for Table Cards
• Platters
• Dessert Stand
• Small Bowls
• Forks
• Napkins
• Coffee/Tea
• Note Cards for Guests

I used three of my cake stands in various sizes and a flat platter to hold the pies.  This way I could keep them at different heights on the table to save space.  Not only did it make it easier to distinguish between the flavors of pies, since they were on different serving platters, but it also made it easier for my guests to reach the pies.
