At Home Teeth Whitening with Smile Brilliant

I was recently introduced to Smile Brilliant, the at-home teeth whitening system.  Since I paid my dentist big bucks years back to create custom trays for my teeth whitening, I was eager to see how Smile Brilliant worked at a fraction of the cost without the hassle of visiting the dentist.  My husband had been wanting to whiten his teeth and recently got a quote from our dentist.  Therefore when Smile Brilliant offered me a review I knew it would be perfect for him.  This way we were able to compare the two methods.

We received our kit in the mail rather quickly.  It came with the mold trays and two sets of putty.  In order to create the molding paste you had to work the two putties together.  Every step was timed and we followed the directions down to the very second to ensure accuracy.

We were given a blue paste and a white paste.  The goal was to mix them together until you had a solid light blue color.

Once the two pastes were molded together evenly in a light blue color it was time to put it in the tray.

After pressing down you are given a set amount of time to smooth the top lumps out.  The molding putty needs to be as evenly distributed as possible and very smooth so it shows the teeth impressions perfectly.

The putty was very easy to work with.  The smoothing out process did not take longer than the time allotted which was good since we were timing each step.

We even used Andrew’s phone to set a timer for taking the impressions.

The directions that came with the kit were very clear and precise.  I never felt like we had to figure it out.  Each step was simple to follow.

Andrew was a little worried that his teeth scraped the front at one point and thought the impressions may not come out clear.  They did, however.  Smile Brilliant sends one backup set of putty to complete a redo if you need.  We were worried we could mess it up and need to use the third set of molding material but we didn’t.  My one suggestion is to not worry and relax because honestly – it is easy.

The teeth trays came back perfect!  They fit Andrew’s teeth without any problems.  The impressions must have been done correctly.  The whole process was smooth and so nice to complete from the comfort of our home without the added cost of the dentist.

So far Andrew has used the whitening gel three times.  The first time he conducted the whitening process it took some getting used to.  He didn’t leave the trays with gel in as long as he did the other two times.  The taste isn’t great but that can be expected.  He was able to see a difference in whitening of his teeth by the second use.

Andrew has very sensitive gums so after using the whitening gel his gums would have a little discoloration on them for roughly an hour.  He could tell the sensitivity was heighten in the area the gel set on his gums.  I wrote Smile Brilliant and asked about this concern and they reassured me instantly that it was not uncommon and recommended he take a couple of days off from whitening.  Which helped!  They even recommended this article for reference about gum irritation.

I do recommend Smile Brilliant and Andrew is very pleased with the process and his progress so far.
