Homecoming Mums – Wordless Wednesday
In Texas it is a tradition for high school students to wear homecoming mums on the day of the big game. Many local craft stores and florist sell mums in various designs and even customize them for each high school student. However, the local craft stores also sell all the supplies to make your own homecoming mums which is what we did. I enjoy being crafty so making my daughter’s mums was fun!

Here is Vanessa’s first homecoming mum for her Freshman year in high school. I had to make her mum a little shorter than the standard female mum since we were hooking it to her wheelchair. We didn’t want it to drag the grab or get tangled in the wheels.

For T’s mum we added stuff that resembled her. JROTC items, journalism, faith for her involvement in our church youth group and, of course, ribbons and symbols to show she is in her Junior year.

What a cool tradition! I love how Texas is so different from here in many ways, neat old traditions!
