He Asked… I Said Yes!
On December 13th Andrew and I headed to Fredericksburg, TX for a weekend getaway. We were celebrating our one year anniversary. In many ways I can’t believe it has been a full year since I met this man yet at the same time I feel like I’ve known him forever.
Saturday, December 14th was our actual anniversary and the first day towards our new future together. Andrew proposed to me at the same time we met a year ago and I said “of course, I will!”

Our weekend away in Fredericksburg was lovely. We were able to relax, have peace and quiet and see all the beautiful Christmas lights. We both love the holidays and this town truly knows how to celebrate. I think our favorite store was the local candy shop with homemade fudge and toffee.
We walked through many little shops and I was searching for the perfect Christmas ornament. Each year I add a new one that represents that year. Whether it is simply a cute ornament I liked at the time or something that is significant for our past year’s events. I also purchase a new ornament on our travels to new destinations.
After Andrew proposed on Saturday I knew I had to have the perfect ornament for our family tree. When I stumbled upon this beauty we both knew it was the one. The cross symbolizes our faith, the heart in the middle shows our love and the little diamonds stand for our new engagement. The large crystals at each end represent our two families coming together and bound by our faith and love in the middle.
Andrew knows me so well… The ring is perfect and is exactly what I would have picked out. I love the princess cut halo ring.

Now to plan a wedding…
Seeing this journey of yours develop over time has been inspiring and joyful in spirit for me. We’ve had brief conversations about the trials of single motherhood and dating and seeing stories like this are very uplifting.
Heather, I keep thinking back to all the years I have been a single mom and I can be honest in the fact that it was scary entering into a relationship. I’m thankful everyday that I found Andrew. After living on my own with just my kids for so many years, there were challenges to overcome with joining two families. I believe God blessed me with this man and his family because our children even love one another. I’m still a little in shock that this time next year I will be married.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! It’s so exciting! (And that ring is breathtaking!)
Thank you, Sara. I am proud of my ring. He did a wonderful job picking it out. I am still on cloud 9 with excitement.
Congratulations on your journey together!
I absolutely adore your ring!! I can’t wait to follow your wedding planning journey. I have loved seeing your family(s) come together this past year. Seeing you guys together (even if it’s online!) makes it look like you were ALL meant to be together. It makes me so happy!
such a sweet love story. I love your ring and the ornament is perfect!
I am at a loss for words, in all honesty, I have already said them all. What I can now say is this; after all of the years watching everything you have gone through, watching you be such a strong woman and mother, that I am extremely happy you found your partner for life. He sounds like an amazing man and I wish you two a happily ever after. <3
