Number 29 on my life list was to attend and bet on the horse races. Last Friday night I was given the chance to accomplish this.  First I must say that my vision of the horse races was more along the lines of the Kentucky Derby.  You know, the whole sun dress and big hat attire. I am not sure what I was thinking but for some reason I expected to see the same horses race more than once.  Don’t ask me why, I know it doesn’t make any sense.  I thought after I got to see the horses and watch them then I would have a better idea of who I wanted to bet on.  Like it’s that easy. Going through the program and reading about the horses and the odds of them each winning or placing in the race, was an experience.  I enjoyed watching them race but I also enjoyed watching them come out with their jockey and take their photo walk {as I call it}.  In order to see both the horses being shown near the stables and the race, you had to run from side to side pushing through the crowd.  Each time you did this of course you lost your seat or place near the fence.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to complain.  I really did have a good time and plan to go again.  I just have to be clear that it was nothing like I expected.  However this has made me decide I now desire to attend the Kentucky Derby and therefore have added it to my Life List.

Check out the video below to see photos from my evening at my local horse races, Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie.
