DIY Thor Hammer Christmas Ornament

| |

Our whole family loves Marvel and we each have our own favorites, but my oldest is a huge Thor fan and has been since she was a little girl. This holiday season we are crafting up more homemade ornaments and you do not want to miss this simple DIY Thor Hammer Christmas Ornament.

DIY Thor Hammer Christmas Ornament

This Thor ornament craft requires a few supplies that you may have in your craft closet. If you do not have a wine cork you could always cut a piece of styrofoam. However, even if you do not drink wine you can still buy wine-free corks at your local craft store to use.

DIY Thor Hammer Ornament Supplies

  • wine cork
  • chopstick
  • silver or gray paint
  • brown craft paint
  • grey yarn or thread
  • pipe cleaner or ribbon for hanging
  • knife
  • hot glue, glue gun

Begin by preparing the head of the hammer. To do this, gently shave the edges of the wine cork with a knife to round it out and give the shape of the hammer head.

Apply two coats of silver or grey paint to the cork and allow to dry. Cut the chopstick into a smaller segment for the handle. Apply two coats of brown paint and allow to dry.

Make a hole in the bottom of the hammer head. Add a dab of hot glue. Press the handle (brown chopstick piece) into the head of the hammer. Hold in place until dry.

Finish the handle of the hammer by wrapping it with some grey thread or yarn. Secure with an additional drop of glue. This brings out the look out of Mjolnir.

To hang your hammer, twist a length of pipe cleaner or thread into a loop. Add some glue and press the back of the hammer head or wrap around the neck of the hammer.

In THOR: Ragnarok the Mjolnir is destroyed. Now you can have your own Hammer or Thor hanging on your Christmas tree.
