I love Christmas. It is hands down my favorite holiday. I am the type of person who cannot wait to pull out our decorations and start stashing gifts in the closet months before time. The kids and I have already started watching Christmas movies. I know, it’s only the first week of November. We can’t stop. A few years ago I customized stockings for our family of seven. This year I personalized dog Christmas stockings for Nicki and Cooper.

Nicki has been part of our family for seven years now and we adopted Cooper in 2013. Each Christmas they get a new dog bed and a stocking full of goodies. It was finally time we personalized their Christmas stockings to match the rest of the family.

  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

I picked up two wooden letters for our dogs’ initials. I loved the curly letter designs.

I decided on a spray paint color based off of the color of their stockings. You can get as creative with your wooden letters as you wish. I kept it pretty simple with a darker brown paint.

To add some shimmer I used glitter spray and added a light top coat over the brown spray paint.

You can really see the glitter shine on top of the initial.

Once the letters were fully dry, I used my hot glue gun to add them to the stockings.

My dogs know what these treats are before I even open them. I can’t imagine they can tell from the package so they must be able to smell them through the bag! They were literally arguing with one another over which dog would be allowed to stand closest to me while I was unpacking the groceries from Kroger. So eager.

They love the Beggin’ Strips. They smell like bacon and, from what I hear, taste like bacon because they are made from actual bacon! I picked up a new flavor of the Beggin’ Strips this trip, with peanut butter. Nicki is a huge fan of peanut butter. Anytime she has to take medication we use PB to hide the pill.

I love that I can easily find all of my dog’s favorite treats while grocery shopping at Kroger. With the busy holiday season approaching it is nice to know that we can treat our dogs like family by stuffing their Christmas stocking with items they are excited to get without the hassle of visiting a separate store.

Speaking of holiday gifts, while gathering our favorite Purina products I decided to put together a Christmas gift basket for a local dog shelter. Each year we love to give back during the month of November and treating animals in need like family means a lot to us.

Whether you are looking for gift basket ideas for a dog lover in your life or to donate to an animal shelter, check out how we put together ours.

The main feature is Purina Beneful dry dog food. After two years of research, the new reformulated recipe was created directly from the feedback of real pet owners, made with meat as the #1 ingredient and no sugar added.

Whole grains and accents of vegetables are blended to perfection in a mix of tender and crunchy bites that give your adult dog 100% nutrition and a taste he’ll love. It’s also rich in antioxidants.

To round out my gift basket and our dogs’ stocking, I purchased Purina DentaLife and Busy dog treats. Cooper loves raw hides so I know he will be eager to get a hold of the Busy Rollhide.

Having adult dogs, I know how important it is to care for their oral health. Purina DentaLife* makes that possible in an easy way, while rewarding your pet.
