With Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom releasing on Blu-ray, DVD and digital HD download on September 15th, we decided to make some monkey inspired banana pastries to celebrate.  Plus, one lucky reader will win a digital copy of Monkey Kingdom – details below.

Nutella and Cinnamon Banana Pastries

My kids believe Nutella can go on anything and I love cinnamon and brown sugar on bananas!  I mean, have you ever had banana foster?  Yum!  So we compromised and combined some of our favorite ingredients to make these homemade pastries.

Hosting a Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom viewing party?  You will want to serve these up to your family to snack on while watching the film.  After all, monkeys love bananas.

Ingredients

banana and nutella pastry ingredients

  • Package of crescent rolls
  • Banana – I used 1 1/2
  • Cinnamon
  • Brown Sugar
  • Nutella

How to Make Nutella + Cinnamon Banana Pastries

add nutella

Roll out your crescent roll dough on a plate.  Spread Nutella on the bottom of the pastry, the wide end of the triangle dough.

add bananas and cinnamon sugar

Slice a few pieces of banana on each pastry then sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.

Roll your pastries just like you would roll a crescent roll.  They will be thicker due to the banana slices so you may need to pinch the ends to hold the Nutella inside.  You can rub the outsides with a little cinnamon and brown sugar mixture that is left over on the plate.  Dust off any excess.

Have some left over brown sugar and cinnamon mix and banana?  I used one and a half bananas on the pastries so I tossed the left over banana and seasoning in my NutriBullet with some oats and almond milk to make a quick smoothie.  You know I love my smoothies!  This was delicious and now I have a new smoothie recipe to try in the mornings.

Once the pastries are ready to bake, simply follow the instructions on the crescent roll package.  I baked ours on 350 degrees in the oven for 12 minutes.  Watch for them to turn golden brown.

They were delicious!  Each kid ate one while they were nice and warm then we put the extras in the fridge to save for later.  They even took one to lunch with them the next day.  I know we will be making these again soon.
