Gabby’s Birthday Celebration – 11 Years Old

|

Gabby's 11th BirthdayOn Saturday Gabby turned 11 years old.  I have watched her grow and mature over the last year beyond anything I could have predicted.  I realized she was growing taller and becoming more mature each day, I could see it, but looking back on photos from last year and comparing them to now – it’s almost unbelievable.

I still can’t believe everything she has been through in her 11 years, more than most adults in their whole lives, and that her struggles are not even close to being over.

On Saturday morning Gabby woke up to balloons hanging in her doorway.  She was surprised.  Andrew and I with the help of her siblings blew up the balloons and hung them while she was asleep Friday night.  We wanted her day to be special from the moment she woke up.  First with balloons and then with birthday donuts.

All Gabby asked for was to attend the Disney on Ice show, Rockin’ Ever After.  She knew that it was going to feature Rapunzel from Tangled, Merida from Brave, Ariel from Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and the Beast which are her favorite Disney princesses.

Like always the show was fabulous with gorgeous costumes.  Andrew and I took Gabby just the three of us so we had some alone time with her.  She had undivided attention all day.  We let her pick out two souvenirs at Disney on Ice and she decided on a Merida doll and the Beast.

Saturday evening after the show our family went out to dinner with my parents to celebrate Gabby’s birthday a little more.  I can honestly say she was one happy girl.  I haven’t seen her smiling that big and so thrilled in a long time.  It was truly a blessed day.

    1. Thanks so much, Annie. I love how not only has she grown but she has changed in so many ways over the year and her hair is so long and thick, it’s just beautiful. Slightly jealous of the gorgeous locks, actually. 😉

  2. I cannot believe how big she is now! I remember her so little. What a happy day y’all had…you are such a caring and thoughtful mom Dwan!

    1. Lea Ann, she has literally doubled or tripled in size since you saw her last. It’s crazy. Thanks for the sweet words, I was glad to get some alone time with her without it involving doctor appointments.
