When it comes to teaching our kids about God it comes out easy for us. We’re passionate about what we have to say, so it’s easy to tell our kids about that passion. Encouraging our kids in their faith is something that God has called us to do as parents. I wanted to share four great tips for encouraging your child in their faith.
Pray with your child
Praying with your children is one way you can encourage kids in their faith. Let them hear you pray for them and watch how God answers those prayers. When your child gets comfortable with praying, encourage them to pray with you and for others.
Read Scripture Together
Since God’s word is the foundation of our faith, it’s important to read scripture together. Sit down as a family and read out of the bible together. Let this be a joyous and uplifting time.
Memorize Scripture Together
Scripture comes in handy when we don’t even know we need it. That’s why memorizing scripture is so important in encouraging our kids in their faith. When they are faced with a difficult situation, they can go back to that scripture they memorized and they will be encouraged.
Allow Yourself to Be Transparent
When encouraging our kids in their faith, it’s important for them to know that we’re human and we make mistakes. Allowing yourself to be transparent can encourage your kids in their faith more than you know. They’ll see how you made a mistake, but were able to make it right. Being a Christian isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being more Christ like.
Encouraging our kids in their faith is something that we must do every day. Think about how encouraged you feel when someone takes the time to pray for you or read the bible with you. God has blessed us with the ability to encourage our kids in their faith, so let’s take this responsibility seriously.
