Dollar Store DIY: Fall Pumpkin Candle Holder
I love decorating in the fall. From pumpkins and gourds to fall foliage and pinecones, the options of decorating for fall are endless. Since I love to get creative, hitting the seasonal section of our local dollar store is perfect. This Dollar Store DIY: Fall Pumpkin Candle Holder goes well on the center of my table.
Supplies:
- Dollar Store Faux Carvable Pumpkin
- Dollar Store Fall Foliage
- Spray Paint
- Hot Glue Gun + Glue
- Votive Candle with Holder
Our local Dollar Tree sells these orange styrofoam pumpkins. We picked up several to make crafts. The bright orange color may deter you from purchasing them but there is so much you can do with them when you add a little paint.
First, I removed the green faux stem. It was only held in place by a tiny wooden stick. Since the pumpkin was going on my table I needed to paint all sides. After spray painting a coat of brown paint, I let it dry. Then I flipped the pumpkin upside down and sprayed the other side.
After letting the pumpkin dry for 30 minutes to an hour, until it is no longer sticky, it was time to decorate.
I picked up my fall floral while at the Dollar Tree. One dollar bouquet is enough for this project. I cut the leaves off of the flower stems and used them as the base around the top of my pumpkin. A small dab of hot glue will hold them in place. I slightly layered the leaves until the crown of the pumpkin was covered as shown.
I pulled the flowers off of the stems and glued them down in a ring. The little berries were part of the fall floral and were a nice touch. One bouquet of flowers had about four bunches of berries. The space in the center of the pumpkin was the perfect size for a votive candle holder. If you would like to carve down into the pumpkin to nestle your candle in place, you can. However, my candle fits sturdy on top.
