7 Uses for Mason Jars

Organize Bathroom & Kitchen Pantry

Place a few mason jars in your bathroom to organize cotton balls, hair pins, make up remover pads, and q-tips. They will look so pretty on the counter tops and keep these items high and dry!

Keep dried goods such as tea, rice, flour, and beans in mason jars. They will store nicely in your pantry and are sure to stay fresh. Plus the clear glass makes it easy to see what is what.

Office Storage

Mason jars are great for storing pencils and pens, labels, rubber bands, paper clips, and push pins. Sort these items out in jars and keep the jars arranged on your desk for easy access. They will be right at your fingertips when you need them.

Organize Office Supplies

You can make your mason jars match your office decor by using fabric.  I used the Little House on the Prairie® fabric from Andover Fabrics.  There are several designs to select from.

Covering a mason jar in fabric is similar to wrapping a present.  Set the jar in the middle of your quarter fabric piece and wrap upwards.  Then push the fabric inside the jar.

Now your jar is ready to fill with office items.

Party Decor

Mason jars are great for displaying cutlery, straws, and even rolls of napkins. You can also use mason jars to sip beverages in. Tie a little ribbon or twine around the opening for an extra pop of color and charm.

Mix Away!

When you need to mix a beverage, dressing, or dips, place the ingredients in a mason jar and secure the lid. Then, mix away! They are great for mixing small amounts of these items and you can even store the mixture in the jar when done.

Store Leftovers

Leftover soup, sides, and salads can all be stored in mason jars. Just place the leftovers in the jar and secure the lid. Store in the fridge until you need it again. The food will stay fresh and the clear glass helps you easily see what is inside.

Gift Giving

Instead of wrapping paper, place small gift items in mason jars. Top with a bow or fun and colorful ribbon. Travel lotions, nail polish, sweet treats, and small jewelry items all fit well in a mason jar.  During the Christmas season you can add cookie mix to a mason jar and top with fabric and ribbon as a gift.  Add a tag with instructions for baking.

How to add fabric to top of mason jar

Depending on the size of your mason jar, cut a small square from your fabric and center on top of the mason jar.
