Who doesn’t want to be fitter and happier? However, when we try the same old tactics that didn’t work in the past, why do we expect different results when we try them again? If you have had healthy new year’s resolutions that just didn’t pan out in the past, here are some ways to update your list this year.
Go On Vacation
If you are like most people, you need a vacation. However, no matter how much people need some time away, they tend not to get it (at least on average). If you are a member of this population, it’s time to realize the health benefits of going on vacation and to make it a priority to go on holiday this coming year. There are numerous ways to make vacations a priority. One of the most overlooked is to buy a timeshare with DVC Resales, which will entitle you to specific holiday days each year in a place that you love to spend your time. Some people don’t like to be bound to a specific time of year to go on vacation, but others find that the limitations are actually empowering. They’ll make sure you get out of the house and on the road to give yourself some needed rest and relaxation.
Be Healthy in Your Mind
What’s the first thing you think when you hear “New Year’s Resolutions”? If you’re like most people, the answer is “working out”. Almost everybody who makes resolutions of for the new year includes going to the gym, jogging, marathon running, and the like. Many of these people never achieve their goals. Why not instead focus on your mental health, and see if this helps you with the bodily health? Start with meditation, taking a guided meditation course if you like. Get counseling if you never had – everyone can benefit from it. Learn to express your feelings in healthy ways, take time for yourself, and variously make sure that your mind is a satisfied and strong place in 2018.
Complete a Big Goal
We know that New Year’s resolutions are goals in themselves, and putting “complete a goal” on such a list would normally be redundant. However, this can be an exception. It’s very important for people to be able to complete a goal – from planning all the way through execution. It almost doesn’t matter what the goal is, as long as it’s challenging and you do it by yourself. It’s psychologically important for people to be able to make plans and then achieve them. It gives people confidence in themselves and helps support making and achieving of still more healthy goals. Try it yourself this year. You might impress yourself. And that’s a good thing.
These are only three of the dozens of ways you could become more healthy in 2018. Some of these will require you to adjust your physical habits, others will require you to make a change in your mind. Whatever the case, take the opportunity of each new day to be happier and healthier. It’ll pay important dividends.
